Transport Manager

To manage a Team of circa 20 drivers and associated fleet, delivering to Customer 6 days per week across the North west UK. The role involves all aspects of Team Leadership and Development.

Essential

• Calculate and record core and agency driver hours on a weekly basis.


• Maintain fleet records in line with company policy and legislation


• Update drivers hours, holiday, and sickness onto the appropriate records


• Deal with Customer Service issues that may arise


• Work according to the Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) at all times.


• Previous experience organising Vehicle & Driver Compliance within a Transport environment
  
  Previous distribution experience is essential along with experience of coordinating with inbound/outbound departments.


• You will have sound IT/PC equipment skills including WMS systems and excellent MS office skills.


• Experience with planning & distribution software and able to optimise route planning


• Customer Service skills are central to the company, so you will have experience with dealing with clients and drivers in a clear and calm manner. You will have the ability to pay attention to detail and maintain a right first time culture


• Previous experience within Investigation & Disciplinary processes


• Previous experience working with H&S and Risk Assessments


• You will have the ability to build effective working relationships with different groups (Warehouse, Operational Managers, Sales, HR Department etc.) as well as a willingness to contribute extra effort and energy to co-operate with others in Depot.


• Must possess a high level of management skills


• Dynamic personality with go-ahead ideas and can-do attitude.


• Problem Solving Skill and the ability to offer solutions


• Excellent leadership qualities


• Excellent people management skills, able to motivate Colleagues to deliver excellent service and performance


• Full control and management of working time directive regulations


• Experience of automated driver and delivery tracking systems, training will be given to company specific solutions


• Employment relations/Disciplinary experience essential


Not Essential But Desirable

• Control Tachograph reports and records of actions required


• Maintain Vehicle & Driver compliance in accordance with regulation


• Experience in being named on Operator's Licence
