Full Job Description

We are currently looking to expand our team with a Trainee Independent Prescriber. The post holder will work as part of an integrated treatment recovery system across the area to provide health interventions including service user assessment, BBV screening and immunisation, detoxification (including prescribing) and on-going contribution to recovery planning.

No two days will be the same as you will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment where you will be exposed to various specialist services such as alcohol detox, recovery services, criminal justice, hospital outreach, in-reach, hepatology, blood borne virus treatment, inclusion health, specialist midwifery, psychology, substance use psychiatry. You will work in a supportive and innovative team where we will work with you to plan your career, identifying your areas of interest, moulding your position accordingly to your aspirations.

  • A knowledge and understanding of policies related to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

  • A strong understanding of/commitment to multi-disciplinary working and working in partnership with other organisations.

  • Knowledge of National Standards that Inform Practice (NICE guidelines).Understanding of legal and ethical issues/responsibilities relating to healthcare practice.

  • Awareness' of knowledge of own professional accountability and autonomous practice.

  • An understanding of models of recovery, and the role of the community in supporting recovery (desirable).

  • Dealing with physical health issues associated with injecting drug users and appropriate clinical interventions (desirable).

  • Evidenced ability to reflect on own practice and use a range of feedback mechanisms/information to improve quality of care offered.

  • Service user focus.

  • Knowledge of dealing with difficult people and personal safety (desirable).

  • Knowledge and understanding of group work (desirable).

  • Understanding of solution focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour and Motivational Interviewing (desirable).

  • BBV testing and treatment (desirable)

  • Detoxification processes and practice (desirable).
