Full Job Description

Provide Business Support for a designated set of Network Rail applications.

  • Data integrity and accuracy for the designated business support area.

  • Collaborate with Route Services and Business stakeholders to derive the resolution of systems issues.

  • Provide Subject matter expertise for the functionality, data and underlying business process for a designated set of applications.

  • Collaborate with Route Services and business stakeholders to introduce minor enhancements, improvements, and fixes within designated business support area.

  • Prepare, plan and deliver training in functionality and underlying business process for designated set of Network Rail applications.

  • Manage requests through the Network Rail call management system, completion of the requests, and where possible, within agreed service levels. Participate in problem resolution with Route Services and Business Stakeholders.

  • Engage appropriate Route Services stakeholders where issues and risks require escalation.

  • Where required, develop test scripts and participate in User Acceptance Testing for designated business support area.

  • Engage with Route Services and business stakeholders to review service levels against service performance and agree service improvements.

  • Continuously review support process identifying improvements and working with relevant Route Services resource to deliver their implementation.

  • Undertake the role in a way that is consistent with, and reinforces, Network Rail's values and behaviours.

    Essential

  • Educated to degree standard or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of the railway industry and its regulatory framework

  • Significant experience in business support covering a set of Network Rail applications

  • Experience of ITIL processes

  • Excellent analytical, organisational and team work skills, with a proven record of providing business support across a number of Network Rail applications.

  • Experience of continuous business support process improvement, both in terms of making recommendations and contributing to process improvement implementation.

  • Strong knowledge of functionality and underlying business process for a set of Network rail applications.

  • Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships in a customer focused way.

  • Good understanding of the IT system relationships within Network Rail

  • Technical knowledge of a specified application/group of applications

  • Exposure to project management concepts and practices

  • Experience of training in IT systems
