Intermediate Java Developer

Our vision is to leverage technology to simplify and streamline insurance for consumers around the world. To achieve this, we are expanding our engineering team with an additional Software Engineer with skills in java.
We are looking for a motivated and talented Software Engineer to join one of our growing development teams. You will work collaboratively, championing agile best practise focusing on continuous integration and delivery, whilst facilitating problem solving. You'll be part of a DevOps Agile team building and modernising our APIs and middleware that power insurance aggregators and connect to our web journeys.

About the team
You will be a team that will be responsible for advancing Digital's contribution to ecosystem 2.0 starting with maturing our RESTful JSON service application (we call Justice), building the strategic solution of Secure Data Transfer and advancing digitals authentication tooling (include AWS Cognito)

As long as you an demonstrate competent programming fundamentals we have training budget set aside to help you, As a competent individual contributor in hybrid working environment, you will play a pivotal role in the development of innovative web applications.

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality, scalable serverless Java applications and related technologies on the AWS platform.

  • Ensuring code quality by writing test-driven, well-structured, and maintainable code with a focus on performance, security, and best practices.

  • Troubleshooting and debugging issues to provide technical support and guidance to the team.

  • Leveraging AWS (Amazon Web Services) services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, and S3 to build efficient, cost-effective, and scalable solutions - during your probation you will be given the opportunity to gain AWS certification.

  • Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define, design, and implement new features and enhancements.

  • Developing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with third-party services.


  • Staying up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our products and development processes.

    3 to 5 years proven hands-on commercial software engineering experience.

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Proficiency in writing test driven Java related technologies.

  • Experience in developing and consuming RESTful APIs.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate and work well with others to meet product delivery deadlines.

  • Passion for learning and staying updated with evolving technologies.

  • Agile working practices

  • Beneficial to have working development knowledge of AWS.

  • Beneficial to have written infrastructure as code.

  • Beneficial to have TypeScript/JavaScript knowledge
