Full Job Description

As a Senior Mechanical & Electrical Fitter - Refurb & Site Support, you will be required to live within a 1-hour commute of our refurb centre in Thorpe Marsh, Doncaster. You'll be required to travel nationally for 50% of the time to support Craftsperson's onsite dependent on the needs of the business. The Senior Mechanical & Electrical Fitter - Refurb & Site Support will ensure the quality assurance of the refurbishment centre's production processes and carry out routine audits on behalf of the QA department whilst leading a small team of Craftsperson's and Craft Assistants to install and provide expert technical support to ET operations and contractors on HV assets. You'll support a busy team and function looking after HV equipment across the network to meet the NARMS plan for T2 and beyond into future regulatory frameworks. When not working on operational sites, you'll provide refurbishment capability at either DRC/LRC to support the refurbishment plan.,

  • Carry out routine Quality Assurance audits on behalf of the QA department

  • Carry out duties at the other site when required

  • Liaise with Refurbishment/Engineering/Asset Management on development, SOPs and work specs

  • Assist in maintaining the quality systems and quality manual in compliance with ISO9001

  • Step in for L6 engineers during periods of absence

  • Lead a team of Craftsperson's and Craft Assistant's

  • Develop and guide the staff within the team

  • Carry out cross site safety inspections when required

  • Maintain SF6 gas handling equipment ensuring accordance with the F gas regulations

  • Carry out the installation of refurbished equipment in line with relevant work specifications

  • Communicate with team members as well as senior engineers both internal and external

  • Check that staff deploying on tasks are fully trained and fully competent to carry out the role

  • Assist with the refurbishment of assets in the RCs when not on operational sites

  • Essential:

  • A full driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK

  • Engineering level 3 qualification or an equivalent recognised apprenticeship

  • Extensive on the tools mechanical or electrical engineering experience

  • Experience of adhering to H&S regulations

  • Experience of leading teams

  • Experience of project delivery


  • Desirable:

  • ISO9001 Auditor certification

  • IOSH or equivalent qualification

  • Experience of maintaining HV equipment

  • Competitive salary between £39,000 - £44,000 per annum dependent on capability

  • Paid Overtime

  • Performance based bonus

  • 37 Hours per week Monday - Thursday 06:45 - 15:15 & Friday - 06:45 - 11:45
