Full Job Description

The overall duties and responsibilities are: To provide the ICT management team, Enterprise Architect, Business Partners and wider organisation with expertise, knowledge, and skills in all aspects of the councils information landscape, derived from Enterprise Architecture. To lead as an authoritative source of expertise in the information and data arena to meet business challenges. With a solid understanding of information architecture that the council current already has, any gaps and opportunities. To engage and provide authoritative advice with stakeholders at all levels throughout the council on information architecture matters, dealing effectively, confidently, sensitively, and diplomatically, and communicating in a jargon-free style with senior managers, elected members, staff, partner organisations, suppliers, and on occasion with members of the public. To be an expert within the Governance Structure to ensure the councils adherence with sound information architectural principles,
giving pragmatic advice and guidance throughout. Working with Enterprise Architect to ensure that those architectural principles remain sound, relevant, easily understandable, and that they evolve over time as appropriate. Creation of architectural visioning documents, working with Directors, Heads of Service, Business Partners, and product owners to ensure the vision for the future product is fully understood and is aligned with the organisations architectural principles. Appropriately challenging when there is divergence either from the architectural principles or the Councils existing core product set. Supporting our Technical and Solution architects in the creation of high-level designs and low-level designs to ensure the data and informational aspects of the design contain sufficient detail to allow the building enterprise solutions from multiple technology components to solve business challenges using existing other design and standards collateral alongside a deep technical
understanding of Local government solutions. Engagement within other directorates senior management team meetings explaining data and information advances, opportunities and feeding data and information considerations into their strategic roadmaps working with the ICT business partners. Working across the organisation to create and maintain the Councils data strategy. Establish and enforce information data modelling standards, guidelines and best practices across the organisation working with SME's, Business Intelligence teams, Architects, and the Enterprise Architect to ensure data management capabilities meets the Councils ambitions. Apply specialist Information Architecture experience to create data foundations to support the integration and insight ambitions. Drive the adoption of master data management across the organisation to enable reliable and consistent insights. Collaborate seamlessly with technical colleagues and other stake holders to intertwine data across a diverse set of
applications. Attend and support the Architectural Governance Board to speak up about data best practices and requirements. Build and support technical roadmaps, supporting business areas on their data journeys. Responsible for maintaining knowledge and skillsets in emerging technologies, trends, and best practices to support the council and aid in decision making. Responsible for sharing knowledge with others in the team and technical engineers. To set the direction for the wider data engineer function to ensure a consistent approach and good practices. Acting as the subject matter expert in information architecture, providing guidance and support to team members and stakeholders.
