Second Accompanist for Carlton Male Voice Choir

Carlton Male Voice Choir of Nottingham is seeking a skilled and dynamic Second Accompanist to join our team. The successful candidate will participate in weekly rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, typically across 20 sessions per year, and Friday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 PM for about 10 sessions annually. The role also requires availability for concerts within the Nottingham area, generally occurring 5-10 times per year, plus participation in a subsidised choir trip either domestically or internationally. The position will commence in August 2024.

• The candidate must be an outstanding pianist with a minimum of Grade 8 certification.


• Strong sight-reading skills are essential, including the ability to play four vocal parts simultaneously from an open score and full accompaniments for the choir's repertoire.


• Collaboration with the Music Team, including the Musical Director, Assistant Musical Director, and Principal Accompanist, as well as accompanying guest artists and soloists, is crucial.


• The ability to conduct occasional sectional rehearsals is highly desirable.


• Organ playing skills are an advantage, but not mandatory., Excellent sight-reading ability, capable of playing up to four vocal parts simultaneously and accompanying choir guests as needed.


• Experience as an organist and solo performer is beneficial.


• Commitment to achieving high performance standards and supporting the Musical Director's vision in rehearsals and concerts.


• Flexibility to adapt to various musical styles and performance demands.


• Capability to coordinate with the Second Accompanist and work effectively within the Music Team.
