Scaffolding Yard Operative

Working in the yard at our busy Northampton depot, unloading and loading suppliers, customers and our own vehicles.

Picking loads by hand for deliveries, also checking back in customer returns.

This is an outdoor position, working in all types of weather, it involves a lot of manual handling, applicant must be fit and able to cope with these conditions.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsible for establishing that Health & Safety is paramount. You will ensure H&S procedures are carried out in the yard. Stock control, plant maintenance including the servicing of equipment is carried out in accordance with instructions from your manager and in line with company policies and procedures.

Ensure all customers in the yard area, adhere to company policies and procedures. Ensure they are dealt with in a polite, courteous and effective manner, promoting the company's products and services to customers.

Responsible for ensuring that all stock movements are accurately and correctly documented in accordance with company policy and procedures with particular attention to note down any defects or damages and make sure that this equipment is labeled and placed in the appropriate designated area.

Ensure that load lists have any alterations highlighted and brought to the attention off the administration team.

Load and unload vehicles promptly within the confines of safety, ensuring only serviceable equipment is loaded.

Use any safety equipment issued to you in the correct manner and for the correct purpose.

All FLT operators must be satisfied that their forklift is safe to operate and free from defects. Daily or pre-shift checks must be completed. Any defects should be recorded and reported immediately to the depot office.

PPE, there is a minimum level of PPE that should be worn at ALL times, Safety Boots, Hi Vis vest and Gloves. When operating machinery such as saws then eye protection and ear defenders must be worn in addition as described in local risk assessments.

Full Forklift Training will be provided. Along with manual handling, site safety awareness, banksman and any other relevant training.

Ideally experience of building or scaffolding industry, also any health and safety or first aid qualifications would be preferred.,

• Yard Forklift Operations: 1 year (required)
  
  Twenty days holiday, plus bank holidays, rising to twenty five days holiday, at one day per year of service after first five years of service.
