An opportunity is available for a Records Assistant within the Dataflows Team based at Castle Donington. Reporting into the Records Team Leader, the post-holder will be responsible for providing essential clerical support to National Grid's Electricity Distribution (NGED) business.

Dataflows are used across the industry as a standardised way to transfer key information for an electricity supply point. An essential communication tool for all energy market participants, thousands are received and sent daily.

The Dataflows Team are responsible for investigating any errors in this process, whilst acting as the main point of contact for all distribution system enquiries from Suppliers and other Distribution Companies in the UK (on behalf of NGED), and ensuring the flow monitor system continues to meet both internal and external audit requirements.

As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.

You will need to have at least 4 GCSEs OR equivalent in order to apply. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.
Main Responsibilities

Key activities include:

  • Processing electronic instructions received from the Data Transfer Service

  • Raising enquiries with local Field Operations teams as required

  • Dealing with customer and supplier Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN) requests/queries, including but not limited to; disconnection requests, change of energisation status requests, and the raising of new export MPANs

  • Monitoring group mailboxes and responding to all enquiries via the appropriate medium and within the expected timescales

  • Ensuring the confidentiality of NGED and customer information is respected at all times

  • Reporting possible safety issues

  • Providing support to the wider Records Team and Distribution business as required

    A basic understanding/appreciation of the deregulated electricity market, and the activities/organisation of National Grid's Electricity Distribution Business

  • Experience of using a range of IT systems, with the ability to adapt and learn new systems and processes quickly

  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise/schedule work to meet tight deadlines

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills with the ability to take a confident and diplomatic approach with internal and external customers

  • A strong team player, who is also able to work independently and show initiative.

  • Excellent attention to detail is essential to be successful in the role

  • An awareness of MPAN administration, Data Transfer Service activities, and the Retail Energy Code (REC) would be desirable
