Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experiences Payroll Lead to join our dynamic People Directorate, responsible for supporting our 40 Academies and Central Team to deliver the best education to our 16,000+ pupils. As a customer-focused individual with excellent communication skills, you will thrive on handling first-line queries from both employees and managers, providing timely advice and proactive solutions.

About the role:

The main focus of this role will involve being the first point of contact within the team for pay related queries from employees.

You will lead in processing new starters, the monthly payroll submissions and overtime, as well as keeping the HR/Payroll database and personnel files up to date. You will also lead in processing and uploading monthly and yearly reporting.

The role will include hybrid working, based in our offices in Nottingham and at home. You'll be an integral part of the wider team, so being a strong team player as well as having the confidence to work independently and use your own initiative is essential.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is well a organised individual with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise their work to meet changing requirements

  • Able to deal with queries promptly and efficiently, whilst providing a professional service

  • Possesses excellent customer service skills, a high degree of accuracy and are able to communicate effectively.

  • You must have a good understanding of data protection and be able to work in a confidential environment.

  • Be willing to work in a fast paced environment


  • Experience of working in an HR/Payroll is essential.,
  • Payroll: 2 years (preferred)
