Brand New Role - Yorkshire Based - Hybrid Working

The UK has set out its ambition to be net zero by 2050 and the energy industry is responding - together we are building a cleaner, greener Britain.

As Lead Project Manager for civils, you'll project managing the infrastructure that connects low carbon energy to the existing electricity transmission system. Your role will be to manage Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) to time and budget, hitting key milestones along the way.
You will use your proficiency to deliver and manage your projects as you see fit and the lessons learnt from your work will be shared across the wider business.

EGL 2 is a joint venture between National Grid and SSE to build an electrical super highway between England and Scotland, spanning more than 500km under sea and over land.

This role is based at on site around 3 days per week with wider hybrid working. The construction site near Drax Power station will be live from September 2024 with project completion in 2029.

We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements., Reviewing and assisting with project plans, schedules, and budgets for civil engineering projects.
Coordinating with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project milestones are met.
Monitoring project progress and addressing any issues or delays promptly.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensuring that all construction activities comply with safety regulations and company standards.
Conducting regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Maintaining a safe working environment for all project personnel and stakeholders.

Quality Assurance:

Overseeing quality control processes to ensure that work meets National Grid standards and specifications.
Conducting inspections and quality audits throughout the project lifecycle.
Implementing measures to address any quality concerns and maintain high standards of workmanship.

Stakeholder Management:

Communicating regularly with internal stakeholders, including engineering teams, project sponsors, and management, to provide updates on project status and address concerns.
Acting as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including contractors and local authorities.

Budget and Resource Management:

Monitoring project budgets and expenditures, ensuring that costs are controlled and within approved limits.
Managing project resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to optimise productivity and minimise waste.

Risk Management:

Identifying potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise their impact on project delivery.
Proactively addressing issues that may arise during construction, such as unforeseen site conditions or adverse weather.

Experience of project management or engineering is essential with civil construction knowledge

A competitive salary between £60,000 - £70,000 - dependent on capability.

A £4,500 supplement is additionally paid and a hybrid or fully electric vehicle provided

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
