Full Job Description

We're seeking a motivated Junior Buyer to join our Buying and Merchandising team. You will support the Buyer and wider team in managing the range life cycle, strategic planning and product development of new goods.

Collaborating closely with our Merchandising team, suppliers, eCommerce and Retail Partnerships team, you will drive the success of our retail portfolio through quality control, supplier management and commercial trading of product categories.

As a Junior Buyer, your key responsibilities include:

  • Regularly communicating with suppliers to optimise stock availability

  • Interpreting sales history and analysis to support the buying strategy

  • Updating the range plan and relevant data for purchase generation

  • Negotiating pricing, production, display, packaging and product details with suppliers

  • Maintaining comparative shop reports, conducting market research, and identifying product trends

  • Working closely with the field team to gauge sales feedback and balance the product range


  • Working arrangements

    This is a 16 month fixed term contract.

    This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our Northampton office (NN1 2AP).

    With a strong interest in Retail, especially within the Charity sector, you have a proven track record and existing experience at either assistant or junior buyer level.

    As this position is with our greeting cards, homeware and giftware team, knowledge of buying these categories, in particular, would be valuable.

    With excellent communication and negotiation skills, you have the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and will be confident to train and mentor junior staff.

    You will be detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills and demonstrate a problem-solving mindset to handle a busy workload and meet tight deadlines.
