Full Job Description

You will cover a wide range of housing duties, including the enforcement of housing standards and investigation of harassment and illegal eviction of private tenants., As part of our safer recruitment checks the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

All employees will normally be appointed to the minimum of the grade for the job.

The successful candidates will be confident professionals with excellent organisational skills. As Derby City has a wide and diverse population, you must have good communication and negotiation skills as you will be dealing with a mixed audience of residents, landlords, partner agencies and other stakeholders. It is essential you have a good understanding of current housing legislation and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain clear and accurate records., 1. A degree/diploma in Environmental Health and EHRB registration or be working towards becoming a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner
or
2. Possess a CIEH approved Higher Certificate in Housing Practice or; a BTech in Environmental Health or; an HNC/HND level qualification in building construction/surveying or working towards this
3. Relevant experience of working in Housing/Environmental Health field.

A full driving licence and use of a car is essential.

Derby City Council have received additional funding to continue our Proactive 'Six Streets' Project across the City and are looking to employ additional staff in this holistic approach team to deliver the outcomes.

You will be given every opportunity to take on responsibility and make full use of your technical knowledge. You will have a varied and challenging case load, advising landlords on property conditions and energy efficiency, providing support and guidance to tenants, whilst also tackling those who flout the law.
