Full Job Description

Long Stratton Leisure Centre boasts an 80-station state of the art gym, 10 station E-GYM, with a studio, café, soft play, multi-functional sports hall, and a 9-a-side 3G pitch. You will be joining a hard-working and passionate team and delivering a high standard service to our members. The role is highly customer focused and very rewarding as you will be a big part of assisting members with achieving their goals and creating gym plans tailored to these. You will also be instructing classes and creating a fun and motivating environment for our members.

You will be joining a dependable and reliable fitness team here at Long Stratton Leisure Centre who is passionate in delivering the best service to our customers.

What you'll be doing…

  • Supervising the gym area

  • Undertaking gym inductions and gym programmes

  • Delivering E-GYM inductions

  • Setting up activities within the centre such as badminton, football, fitness classes etc

  • Instructing classes (wherever necessary and qualification dependant)

  • Assisting with centre tours and membership sales

  • Assisting Front of House team at reception and on Café

  • Ensuring the centre is well run, clean and ready for business., The Councils want to ensure all our employees have a safe comfortable place to work, ensuring that employees feel empowered to actively manage their own wellbeing both at work and at home.     Essential Skills


  • Level 2 gym instruction qualification

    Good communication skills

    Ability to work a combination of early, late and weekend shifts

    Ability to instruct circuits and other classes qualification dependant

    Interest in Fitness and Leisure and to motivate and encourage people through fitness

    Excellent customer service skills

    You will be working shift patterns, including evenings and weekends
  • We are currently participating in our national pay negotiations with the trade unions (UNISON). As an organisation we are also committed to being a Real Living Wage employer, meaning all of our staff are paid a minimum of £12 per hour which equates to £23,151 per annum and this forms part of these negotiations. Our advertised salary bands will be updated when formal negotiations are completed.
