Alternative Heat specialises in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of Off-site Prefabricated solutions for the commercial M&E sectors throughout Ireland, UK and mainland Europe. Through continuous investment within our teams, and our facilities, we have grown strongly over the years and established ourselves as a leader within the offsite pre-fabrication industry throughout Ireland and the UK.
We are looking to integrate an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support the growth of our teams in Birmingham.

As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the pre-commissioning & commissioning of electrical systems & plant including the witnessing and interrogation of Building Management Systems (BMS) in various projects throughout the UK & Europe. This role involves on site commissioning and testing of commercial electrical systems to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards. You will collaborate closely with other engineering teams, contractors, and project stakeholders to achieve successful integration and optimal performance of electrical systems.,

  • Collaborate with internal Commissioning Manager and design teams to understand project requirements and electrical system specifications.

  • Conduct thorough testing of electrical components and systems to identify and rectify any issues.

  • Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, ensuring prompt resolution to maintain project timelines.

  • Perform inspections to verify that electrical systems comply with regulatory standards, codes, and project specifications.

  • Generate detailed commissioning reports documenting procedures, test results, and any modifications made.

  • Maintain accurate records of electrical system configurations, changes, and as-built documentation.

  • Liaise with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and contractors, to address interdisciplinary issues.

  • Deliver training programs for operations and maintenance staff on the newly commissioned electrical systems.

  • Facilitate the handover process, ensuring a smooth transition from commissioning to operational phase.

    Level 3 NVQ Electrical Installation or equivalent

  • Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) membership

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Certification

  • BMS Manufacturer Training with one the following -Trend / Tridium / Satchwell / Schnieder

  • Proven experience in commissioning electrical systems in diverse projects.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Effective communication skills for collaboration and reporting.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced project environment.


  • Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with electrical design software.

  • Previous experience in a similar role

  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.

  • Certification in Commissioning Process Management.
