Full Job Description

The Underwriting Practices and Quality Assurance Professional ensures that underwriting decisions are consistent with industry standards, regulations, and company policies. The role develops and executes quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency in underwriting decisions. The role works closely with underwriters and other stakeholders to identify areas of improvement and implement best practices to mitigate risks. The role also provides guidance and support to underwriters to promote underwriting knowledge and skill development and utilizes expertise and knowledge in maintaining the integrity of underwriting practices and ensuring that the company meets its underwriting objectives.,

  • To assist with Lloyd's and Non-Lloyd's coverholder applications (including Class of Business, Regional extension , Branch office applications for Coverholders and Westfield Service Companies)

  • Preparation of renewal slips and endorsements in respect of Service Companies throughout the contract period.

  • To co-ordinate workflows for Coverholder and Binder/Lineslip/Consortia Contract management including workflow processes and compliance reviews

  • To ensure lead contract risk assessments are completed in accordance with the risk criteria set

  • Produce statistics and reports when required including Control Packs and Committee papers on Due Diligence & Audit management.

  • To review weekly workflow and carry out required Quality Assurance process

  • To be a point of contact for Brokers, Auditors and Underwriters for any queries, chasing for outstanding information when required

  • Liaise with external audit firms on Westfield's Audit panel and other managing agents to coordinate the programme of Coverholder audits

  • Review of audit reports for adherence to the Westfield audit scope and quality, distribution of relevant issues ensuring that recommendations are followed up and completed.

  • Follow up, and escalation of open audit recommendations to ensure completion in line with agreed service levels.

  • Ongoing participation in the review and development of the Delegated Authority audit policy and audit scope.

  • Assist with the ongoing performance monitoring of external audit firms.

  • Coordination of Coverholder audits with Claims audits.

  • Maintain, update and circulate where required relevant binder audit information from Lloyd's, FCA, LMA or other local regulatory bodies and ensuring procedures are kept up to date as part of the audit process,

  • Assist on system testing and liaise with the IT and Projects Department as and when required

  • Ad hoc tasks as required

  • Comply with Lloyd's minimum standards on delegated underwriting and Westfield internal protocols and procedures

  • Attend Lloyds Town Halls and workshops as and when required to stay abreast of ongoing regulatory and market changes

  • Comply with Lloyd's rules on delegated underwriting and Westfield internal protocols and procedures

    Proven experience of working on binding authorities with knowledge of the Coverholder due diligence and audit management processes

  • Excellent administrative experience

  • Experience of working in a Lloyd's environment advantageous

  • Experience of London market systems and processing desirable but not essential

  • Knowledge of the insurance industry

  • LMMIT preferable although not essential

  • Good knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Demonstrated experience in coordinating end-to-end Delegated Authority Due Diligence and oversight.

  • Strong knowledge of Lloyd's systems, including: ATLAS, DCOM, DAM, Wording Repository & Crystal

  • Watertrace (BDX & IQ Canvases)

  • Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous eye for identifying inconsistencies or inaccuracies in data entry or data outputs.
