Full Job Description

Pending the launch of the new strategy and the appointment of the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) a number of senior posts were filled as interim. With the arrival of the new COO and the creation of her new team, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of the new COO vision and strategy.

This is a critical new strategic role within the Vice-Chancellor's Office (VCO) being offered on an indefinite basis to ensure the provision of excellent and efficient services, in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Student Experience and Education so that the University maintains and improves its competitive position in delivering an excellent student experience. Working as a key member of and reporting to the new Chief Operating Officer's team, the successful candidate will demonstrate an outstanding understanding of and commitment to the student experience and continuous improvement to ensure the success of our student body.

You will provide strategic leadership and lead the operational management of Student and Academic Services. The team comprises: Academic Services (including the Learning and Teaching Service), Student Services and Student and Graduate Success. A key objective is to bring these teams together and deliver an integrated and student-focused service which is effective and successful. The Vice-Chancellor's Office oversees a number of student lifecycle areas on behalf of the University including administrative support and guidance for students and staff in the delivery and assessment of taught programmes; the regulation, quality and standards of our degrees and awards, appeals and complaints; timetabling and the student records system; all aspects of student services, wellbeing and welfare and the graduate and student success activity.
You will have a track record of successful delivery and have a focus on service transformation and a commitment to informed debate, corporate decision-making and collective accountability as well as individual ownership.
This full-time post is available on an indefinite basis.
