Full Job Description

As a Cost Transformation Manager within our Private Sector Operations Life Sciences team, you will work alongside operations transformation experts to help clients identify opportunities to produce sustainable cost savings and margin improvements across the business, ultimately innovating and transforming their business models and core operations. We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of industry experience and strong business acumen, demonstrating skills and experience in one or more of the following areas

Life science industry experience:

  • Experience working within one, or multiple sectors including Biopharma, Med-tech and Consumer Health industry. Prior Consulting experience with Life Sciences are also desirable

  • Within your relevant sector, bring experience and knowledge across the value chain of the business to understand how financial business planning, cost allocation and budgeting works

  • Demonstrate deeper cost expertise in one of multiple parts of the life sciences business e.g. R&D, Supply Chain, IT etc.

  • Strong understanding of cost principles and levers to reducing COGS, SG&A and improving asset efficiencies

  • Understand the key cost drivers disrupting the industry, and demonstrate a working knowledge of the typical challenges and opportunities within your area of expertise


  • Business / Operational experience:
  • Proven experience analysing and manipulating large cost data sets to identify cost-saving opportunities, and / or developing large-scale financial business cases (using MS Excel or ANAPLAN)

  • Track record in successfully leading / participating in end-to-end cost transformation programmes including setting baselines & targets, identification & quantification of initiatives, implementation and benefit tracking

  • Ability to rapidly understand complex business challenges, comfortable working with large amount of data inputs to build a grasp of the client's operating model and processes and draw conclusions in a logical manner

  • Proven experience leading effective teams and projects on time and to budget, including proactive programme risk and issue management

  • Working in a matrixed environment with multi-disciplinary teams to design and implement project solutions

  • Strong communicator with the ability to tailor messaging to the audience, ability to organise insights into a logical flow and content to enable impactful storytelling when presenting recommendations

  • Good working knowledge of tools that support project management, workshop facilitation, data analysis, different presentation formats

  • Track record of building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at all levels within an organisation, comfortable with senior stakeholder engagement

  • Track record in successfully developing junior talent within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution, Degree in relevant field

  • Proven experience within Life Sciences industry or Consulting


  • Additional desirable experience include:
  • Management / Financial Accounting Qualification e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CFA

  • Experience working Finance functions, Finance Transformation teams or Business Development related roles within the business

  • Advanced degree including Master of Business Administration (MBA)

  • Successfully leading responses to client or vendor bids and proposals

  • Line management responsibility
