Full Job Description

Working within a small team, the purpose of the role is to increase sales both in the UK and overseas as well as oversee internal sales operations. The main focus is to provide Project Management, Commercial Sales Support, and Customer Relationship Management to ensure the sales process runs smoothly and any issues are dealt with in a professional and efficient manner.

Being positive, outgoing, and demonstrating a confident but approachable disposition, you are pro-active and can work alongside other departmental staff to achieve efficient and effective sales development. Demonstrating excellent communication skills, and being able to interpret, understand and summarise customer feedback, you will drive continuous improvement into the sales operating / management systems.

As this is a customer facing position with managerial responsibility within a small team the role is unlikely to be suitable for flexible or remote working arrangements.

Scope:

The Commercial Manager will assist the board in establishing appropriate strategic actions to attain new business and deliver sustainable sales growth, including Marketing and Promotional activities. The Commercial Manager will work with the Engineering Team to ensure technical sales support is provided on time and to the Customers satisfaction.

Main Tasks of the Role:

  • Manage other members of the Sales team, ensuring the company and customer requirements and objectives are met.

  • Develop and implement sales administration procedures - including a CRM system, and sales follow up calls.

  • Responding to customer enquiries and complaints in a professional manner.

  • Responsible for all aspects of customer service - managing and implementing continuous improvement.

  • Manage Sales accounts on a day to day basis and visit clients / prospects as and when required.

  • Managing Projects in the field, to ensure products arrive to site on time, and be the main contact with customers should any problems arise.

  • Prepare Quotations and liaise with the Engineering Team to ensure layout / product designs and technical quotations are delivered on time.

  • Raising Sales Invoices and monitoring customer payment to ensure it is in line with the agreed terms and conditions.

  • Full responsibility for updating and monitoring trade price lists for UK and International customers.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences

  • Involvement with marketing activities, and attending Exhibitions and Trade Shows when required.

  • Production of sales report information, including Sales Forecasts.

  • To make suggestions for new products - either suggested by customers or from observations of the market and trends.

  • Attend Sales Meetings and New Product Development Meetings when required.

    Previous commercial sales office experience

  • Experience in developing new clients

  • Experience managing field based projects.

  • Ability to use, develop, and manage day to day reporting

  • Confident Telephone manner

  • Problem Solving and Analytical Skills to interpret sales performance and market information

  • Good IT skills and a willingness to learn new systems and processes

  • Excellent oral and written information skills

  • Ability to be pro-active and work well in a team environment.
