Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a two year Fixed Term Contract/Secondment to lead a Stronger Local Resilience Forum (LRF) pilot.

In December 2022, the UK Government Resilience Framework (UKGRF) was published. Within it, the Government committed to piloting different aspects of the stronger LRFs programme, ahead of any changes that would be required to the Civil Contingencies Act to implement it. It aims to undertake pilots by 2025 and to deliver the LRF reform programme by 2030.

As Chief Resilience Officer (CRO), you will lead the Stronger LRF across the Thames Valley Region. The CRO will work cross-systems to influence, champion and challenge the way resilience is embedded into wider local strategies, including areas such as climate, planning and infrastructure, technology, and economy. The CRO will lead an ambitious pilot project aimed to ready our resilience partnerships to strategically adapt and plan for the risks facing society up to 2050.

The Thames Valley LRF decided this role should sit within the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner during the pilot phase, although it is not a policing centric role. This is for the purpose of enabling funding via the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC) through the Police and Crime Commissioner's (PCC) existing mechanisms. The role holder will report to the Chief of Staff for the PCC for day to day line management although they will be accountable to the PCC for delivery of the pilot.

At Thames Valley Police (TVP) we work together to protect our communities. Whether as an officer, staff member or volunteer, you will make a difference and play an important role in helping achieve our mission. As you take on a role with pride and confidence, you will be supported, developed and valued, ensuring you can be at your best in the service of our communities. Learn more About Us.

We also offer a comprehensive range of benefits and discount schemes, some provided directly by the organisation and others via partnerships including Blue Light card. Vetting. All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

The interviews for this role are currently planned for Monday 17th June 2024 and Tuesday 18th June 2024. As part of the interview process you will be asked to deliver a presentation. The subject matter for the presentation will be provided in advance of the interviews.

Any enquiries in relation to the role should be directed to the OPCC Chief of Staff gillian.ormston@thamesvalley.police.uk

As part of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, you will be employed by Thames Valley Police and enjoy a fantastic range of benefits. This includes 30 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme.
