Full Job Description

The Governors of New Horizons Learning Centre are inviting applications for the post of Caretaker, to work alongside our Site Manager

This post is based at the Mulberry Drive campus, Kingswood, but also working out of the Primary campus at Courtney Road, Kingswood.

We can offer a pleasant working environment, a happy team and friendly pupils and parents. In return we need someone who can complete regular repair and maintenance work, to include carpentry, painting, decorating, furniture repairs as well as supporting the site manager in managing the contracts for boilers, lifts, security systems etc.

There is also a need for the person to be ICT literate as many of the systems in the school are reliant on ICT.

We are a school for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and this is reflected in the need to keep on top of repairs and damage. So we want someone who can act on their own initiative, taking a pride in keeping the school environment clean and attractive and is proactive in their approach to their work.

Training will be provided where appropriate.

The hours worked can be more flexible in school holidays, to suit candidate and school's needs. This post is for Term Time Only plus 10 days which will be discussed and agreed at interview.

Some overtime is available and there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be available for emergency call out if the contracted security callout company needs additional advice. This happens rarely but is an essential element of the job.

An enhanced DBS will be essential.

Hours: Part Time, 25 Hours per week, Term Time Only + 10 days (Wednesday 12.30 - 5.30pm; Thursday and Friday 7.00am - 10.00am and 2.00pm to 5.30pm; 7 additional hours per week to be agreed at interview)

Salary: Hay 12 (£14,122 per annum)
