Full Job Description

  • As a CAD Mechanical Production Team Leader, you will implement and maintain best methods within the CAD Department to allow primary focus on ensuring standard products are productionised to the highest standards. Ensuring office based mechanical and electrical designs become linked seamlessly into our production facility.


  • What you'll be doing…
  • Overseeing the CAD process for production and ensuring best processes are adhered to or introduced to maintain the best efficiencies within the workshop whilst maintaining the best standards.

  • Leading both mechanical production CAD and electrical teams to ensure all projects align between mechanical and electrical teams and are prioritised correctly.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

  • Conduct production design reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

  • Creating component CAD 3D part models.

  • Creating accurate 3D assembly models and manufacturing instruction drawings in line with our latest CAD production processes.

  • Creating Syspro bills of materials, maintaining part codes and BOM structures.

  • Continual improvement within Syspro with system maintenance and links with CAD software.

  • Learning a good understanding for the overall design and production process - What we are doing and why?

  • Always seeking to improve quality, CAD designs both mechanically and electrically, bills of materials and production - Working closely to all departments to ensure we get the absolute best results.

  • Creating accurate bill of materials within CAD and transferring to Syspro MRP system.

  • Understanding change control and documentation.

  • Continual review of production processes and design to ensure best efficiencies.

  • Continual review of supply chain products and new offerings.

  • Look to implement standard product catalogues for commercial and marketing teams.

  • Work closely with other technical departments within Space Engineering to obtain set targets.

  • Attend tier meetings.

  • Consulting with suppliers and ensuring we receive the best value and quality.

  • Provide regular progress updates and managing time efficiently.

  • Ensuring all projects closed on time and to the highest standard.

    A degree in Mechanical Engineering, an advantage but not essential.

  • Proven experience in CAD production design office, focus on drawing and documentation controls and production processes to ensure continual.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Inventor) and other relevant design tools

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members towards common goals.

  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.

  • Ability to thrive in a challenging environment and manage multiple
