Full Job Description

Come join us as our new Business Development Manager for Solar PV, as we become the biggest name in the Solar PV Market. You'll have the supply chain network of 380 branches and a Solar PV offering that's genuinely shaking things up., As our new Business Development Manager for Solar PV, your job is to reconnect with old customers and find new ones for our revolutionary Solar PV offering. It's all about new sales, so you'll need to bring in a lot of business fast using different approaches and routes to market.

To do this, you'll be supported by a high performing energy efficiency team, access to 380 branches for supplies, and a brand that's already known for leading the way in sustainable heating.,

  • Drive sales and profitability for a region in Solar PV, focusing on both existing and new accounts. Take full responsibility for the Solar PV Annual Operating Plan (AOP), monitoring sector margins as well as your own.

  • Use market intelligence, competitor analysis, and industry trends to spot growth opportunities in locations and product offerings. Aim for CPS to shake up the Solar PV industry. Influence operational teams at branches to support Solar PV category growth. Act as a go-to resource for the internal and external sales teams, making important decisions.

  • Cultivate strong customer relationships to expand the new sector within the group. Collaborate with the sales team to uncover Solar PV opportunities among existing customers. Develop strategies for both existing and new customer bases.

  • Collaborate with colleagues at various levels in target branches to raise awareness and engagement in Solar PV. Ensure branches grasp the significance of meeting customer expectations and the benefits to the overall P&H business of aligning with the Solar PV strategy. Attend regional meetings to advocate for Solar PV and assist branch teams in maximizing sales and margins.

  • Keep tabs on Solar PV market trends and share innovative ideas with the sector lead and commercial teams to shape the Solar PV range's development.

  • Attend monthly Solar management meetings to provide updates and aid in the progress of the Solar PV market and growth plans. Take the lead on key initiatives to enhance the Solar PV proposition.

  • Actively manage personal development, regularly assessing performance and seeking ways to improve. Welcome advice and feedback. Handle customers from initial enquiry to delivery, with support from the wider business.


  • This is a remote based opportunity with significant travel across your defined territory. Consequently we're looking for Business Development Managers in the South, Midlands, and the North.

    You'll live and breathe our customer-first ethos, with a proactive and "can-do" approach. You'll enjoy working collaboratively with the wider Solar PV team and you'll be committed to acting with integrity and honesty in everything you do.,
  • A proven track record in new business sales is essential.

  • Ideally we are looking for people who are already selling Solar PV. However, if you have a solid background in new business development, and can demonstrate your ability to learn a new industry quickly, we would be open to having a conversation.

  • Able to grow sales over a predefined area, servicing customer needs and ensuring you uphold the values and behaviors of City Plumbing.
