Full Job Description

National Grid Electricity Transmission creates value from its assets. This role will develop a strategy for, and subsequently manage, Building Information Modelling (BIM) across our growing offshore portfolio. BIM is relatively new to National Grid, and we are seeking to maximise the benefits of its use, whilst being mindful of the way BIM needs to integrate into our wider development, construction and asset management systems.

National Grid have deployed BIM on a project-by-project basis. With our Great Grid Upgrade programme we have a unique opportunity to embed digital tools across our portfolio and leverage the value that digital technology allows The role will be designed to build upon the work already underway in our offshore programme, but will you will be expected to expand, create and manage a BIM strategy aligned to National Grid's overall business objectives.

This role will require experience of managing BIM at Levels 0 to 2 and the creation of BIM strategy and associated resources. Our projects are £multi-billion and with complex technologies and supply-chains. We also work with critical JV partners. The BIM Manager will establish a consistent and collaborative approach to BIM across the portfolio and work with project directors, JV partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to create and embed leading BIM practices.

What you'll do

  • Lead to the strategic management of BIM for National Grid's Offshore Strategic Infrastructure business.

  • Ensure the offshore BIM strategy is coordinated with other BIM specialists within the Group, agreed and implemented into the wider ET organisation.

  • Identify, communicate and drive innovative uses for BIM and remain a subject expert.

  • Lead and shape National Grid's BIM relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. professional bodies, suppliers and constructors, JV partners) in line with the strategic direction.

  • Establish and maintain a network of BIM leaders.

  • Provide senior executive advice and briefings.

    Experience of BIM Implementation planning and execution

  • Strategic BIM Management experience

  • Be comfortable to lead through ambiguity and change across National Grid functions.

  • Coach and challenge others at all levels of seniority

  • Be able to virtual teams of internal or external individuals

  • Demonstrate the implementation of BIM within a large organisation or on large-scale and complex projects.

  • Experience of working with partners and suppliers to introduce new digital processes.

  • Able to think beyond convention to derive value and to solve business issues

  • Experience of managing a budget

  • Numerate Degree or equivalent experience required

    A competitive salary between £50,000 - £75,000 - dependent on capability

    As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
