Full Job Description
We have an exciting opening for a Bank Paramedic to join our Primary Care team at HMP Bullingdon, a category B Prison & Young Offenders Institute located in Bicester, Oxfordshire.
In this role you will have the opportunity to provide the highest standards of healthcare to our patients, without having to compromise on efficiency and quality.
The site currently offers a 24-hour service and shift patterns.
The shift hours are: 07:30 to 17:30, 07:30 to 19:30 and 19:30 to 07:30.
Youll receive a bank hourly rate of 26.25.
Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks., As a Paramedic, your role will be multi-faceted. As part of the urgent & emergency care team within the prison establishment, your responsibilities will vary and includes:
- providing emergency response cover across the establishment
- running urgent care clinics (See & treat)
- assisting the primary care team with routine clinics
- assisting the early days in custody team with secondary screening of new arrivals
- working with a wide range of colleagues, from senior prison staff to junior nurses
- rapidly and accurately manage a developing emergency scene
- Development of clinical skills (suturing, urethral catheterisation and wound management)
- Development of specialist clinical interests
- Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course

HCPC Registered - Post registration experience with a front-line ambulance service
- Successful completion of newly qualified paramedic (NQP) competency
- Autonomous clinician able to examine, diagnose, treat or refer as appropriate
- Able to use PGDs
- Current Trust resuscitation competency
