Full Job Description

Taking your first steps as an Accounts Apprentice is now a reality with Robert Whowell & Partners LLP, as we are looking for someone keen to learn how to carry out bookkeeping duties, properly liaise with clients and keep records. Sign in to apply, The successful applicant will be involved in a wide variety of accounting tasks as well as general administrative duties.

They will need to have good attendance and timekeeping, to be a team player and to have the confidence to communicate with clients as well as other work colleagues.

They will be involved in the following tasks:

  • Undertaking bookkeeping and VAT services for clients

  • Preparing spreadsheets and analysing client records

  • Accurate input of client information into accounting software and spreadsheets

  • Calculating accounting adjustments such as depreciation, prepayments and accruals

  • Liaising with clients for any bookkeeping/VAT queries by telephone and email

  • Booking in, filing and archiving of client books and records

  • Audit assisstance, Passing any suggested exams they may be required to take as part of their on-programme assessment

  • Completion of training logs which demonstrates they have met the knowledge, skills and behaviours detailed in the standard

  • Evidence from performance appraisals

  • Feedback from progress reviews completed by the Training Provider

  • The combination of both forms of end-point assessment are designed to test the knowledge, skills and behaviours detailed in the published standard to the extent that the Independent Assessment Organisation is satisfied that they are competent in their job role


  • The In-Tray exercise will test the knowledge and skills and the portfolio and structured interview will showcase the knowledge, skills and behaviours

    Delivery Method:

    Attendance at college will be required one day per week, alongside additional attendance at a one-hour fortnightly apprenticeship session to assist with portfolio building and preparation for the End Point Assessment.

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard in Accounts or Finance Assistant

  • Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting

  • Level 2 Diploma in Financial and Management Accounting

  • Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping

  • Level 2 Functional Skills English and maths (if required)


  • End-Point Assessment (EPA):

    An apprentice will be put forward for end-point assessment when it is felt that they have achieved the required experience in the workplace to put them in the best possible position to achieve success., Communication skills, Organisation skills, Administrative skills, Number skills, Analytical skills, Logical, GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) Essential
