Full Job Description

To deliver the Bristol Bears vision to 'Inspire our community through rugby success' by supporting the development of home-grown players to represent Bristol Bears in the Premiership and Champions Cup. The Bristol Bears Academy's primary objective is to identify and develop the next generation of quality players for Bristol Bears. In partnership with the University of Bristol the appointee with act as Head Coach of the University's men's programme with the goal of reaching BUCS Super Rugby. The appointee will assist with the transition of players from the U18 programme to Senior squad, including the role of U20 Assistant Coach.

KEY OBJECTIVES
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to support the short-, medium- and long-term objectives of the Bristol Bears Academy.

Design, lead and review the University of Bristol men's rugby programme so that it becomes a leading BUCS Super Rugby programme.

As directed by the Head of Academy, lead / assist in the daily design, delivery and review of Academy training sessions at Bristol Bears.

Contribute positively to the Bristol Bears vision and culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (KPIs)
Lead the delivery of the University of Bristol men's programme, designing and delivering a high performing programme utilising key staff to do so.

Assist the delivery of the University of Bristol women's programme, supporting the lead coach in the delivery of a high performing programme.

Support the Head of Rugby with recruitment of highly talented individuals to join the performance programme.

Support the University scholars with 1-1 coaching, mentoring and reviews.

Working with the coaching team at Bristol Bears to develop the full-time Academy playing group through 1-1 coaching, mentoring, reviews and development of an individual development plan.

Assist the delivery of the Bristol Bears U20 coaching team, to support the development of a high performing programme.

Support the delivery of the U17 & U18 programme as directed by the Head of Academy.

In line with the succession plan, play a key role in the identification and recruitment of Bristol Bears Academy players., Responsible for ensuring all health and safety procedures are always followed, with relevant documentation to support.

Report all incidents and accidents as required.

To report any hazards detected.

To complete and review the risk assessments for their areas.

Have a significant level of experience and achievement in the coaching, supporting and development of young players within an Academy or BUCS Super Rugby environment (or equivalent).

Detailed knowledge of player development and the issues that can aid or hinder the development process.

Effective management skills in a similar or related environment

Be qualified to a minimum of RFU level 3 coaching award (or equivalent).

Excellent communication skills to explain and present information clearly for a variety of learning styles.

Be a team player and well versed in developing constructive working partnerships with a range of stakeholders.

Be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic, drive and enthusiasm in a similar role.

Be a confident and proficient user of information technology.

Be capable of implementing overall strategy with attention to detail.

Able to drive the Vision of the Bristol Bears and the purpose of the Academy.

Full UK driving license.

DESIRABLE
University sports science qualification / related discipline or equivalent.

Experience and understanding of using Hudl Sports Code software.

Detailed tactical and technical knowledge of rugby union.

GROWTH mindset.
